STOP Framework
A diagnostic framework for identifying patterned behaviors used by individuals and institutions to preserve legitimacy through everyday social interaction.
These behaviors are often subtle and socially normalized, making them difficult to name in the moment, yet consistent in how they preserve legitimacy, regulate recognition, and shape social outcomes.
STOP stands for:
S – Silence as Strategy
T – Tokenism and Timing
O – Optics Over Integrity
P – Performative Proximity
Part of the Social Architecture Diagnostic Trilogy, STOP examines the micro-level behaviors through which legitimacy is preserved, regulated, and reproduced in everyday interactions. It provides a language for recognizing patterns that have long shaped social life but have rarely been named.
